It seems to me that the Fall colors have been especially vibrant this year. The colors have been bright and clear, the leaves clean and healthy, not prematurely dried out or compromised by the stress of disease. They’ve been breath-taking and a delight. And I’m pretty sure it has something to do with all the rain we had during the summer.
This got me to thinking. It reminded me of the first psalm in the Bible where the godly man is likened to a tree planted by streams of water. “And he will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither; and in whatever he does, he prospers.” Psalm 1:3. This man’s fruit is good and his leaves are healthy and beautiful. He is a blessing to others.
So I wondered, am I like these beautiful healthy trees, steeping my life in the Word of God so that my actions are sweet and my countenance is bright and clear? Is my life a blessing to others, a thing of beauty because I am doing what pleases God? This is what I desire, even though I know it is not always so.
I trust you’ve had the chance to enjoy the beauty of Fall in your neck of the woods.
